Study Group on the Grass

We offer college essay writing workshops to teach you how to effectively communicate your values and life experiences to universities and why they should offer you admission.

Applying to college can be stressful, but it doesn't have to be.

Writing your college essay is hands-down the most challenging part of applying to college. With our help, you won't just write an essay--you'll craft a compelling and unique story that stands out amongst the crowd. Our workshops are led by a former admissions counselor who will teach you everything you need to know to write a successful college admissions essay.

Students will learn:

Techniques and tools to write a unique and well-written college essay
You’ve written plenty of essays in the past, but this one makes you nervous! Which prompt should I choose? What should I write about? We’ll show you how to find your unique story and how to structure it step-by-step.
What admission counselors are looking for
Admission counselors want to know 3 things: 1) Who is the person behind the application?
2) Can you write? 3) What value would you add to the university community? We’ll help you pick the best prompt that represents who you are and how your values align with the colleges that you’re applying to.
How the essay impacts your overall application
GPA and test scores are important, but these metrics don't tell your whole story. Your college essay can be the deciding factor in your admission decision. We’ll help you understand how colleges consider your essay in the admissions process.
What clichés and mistakes to avoid
Although events such as getting your driver’s license or your (insert sport) team winning/losing the championship game are significant and have taught you valuable life lessons, you shouldn't pick a topic that your classmates are also considering. We’ll teach you how to express your personal growth in a way that doesn’t sound like a cliché.
